When the Fuerniss family first moved to the Coast in 1995, Klaus Fuerniss immediately saw the community’s potential for a harbourfront five-star boutique hotel nestled in historic Gibsons Landing. Trained in five-star service European hotel management, Klaus Fuerniss’ decades in the industry (including with the Fairmont hotel chain) merged with his lifelong dream to build an innovative destination hotel. 

In 2023, The George Gibsons Marine Resort and Residences - a multi-million-dollar undertaking – moves from dream to reality. The project will provide new homes, dozens of good-paying local jobs while updating and improving view corridors, waterfront and seawalk accessibility, additional parking for the community and Gibsons Landing visitors, and other community infrastructure. Innovative engineering and construction methods will ensure a safe and eco-friendly development in keeping with Gibsons Harbour Plan and community natural assets.

With wellness tourism on the rise, plus Gibsons’ accessibility by water and air from the Lower Mainland, plus its proximity to both water and wilderness activities, The George is well positioned to become a major economic generator for its home community of 5,000 residents as it draws visitors internationally as well as from the West Coast.

The adjacent luxury waterfront condominium complex adds to the diversity and economic stability of the project. 

As well as establishing a strong development team to manage The George, the real estate division provides property management services to dozens of properties it owns or maintains in Vancouver and on the Sunshine Coast.
