In the first phase of assembling the waterfont properties that would form the basis for The George Gibsons Marine Resort and Residences, Klaus Fuerniss acquired Hyak Marine and Fuel Dock to anchor the project’s marine operations.

Hyak’s moorage floats and fuel dock were boosted in 2015 with the purchase of adjacent Gibsons Marina long term lease. The 380-berth Marina’s sheltered location, in easy walking distance of Gibsons restaurants, boutiques and attractions, had long been a favourite with local and transient boaters. Under careful management, the marina moorage availability exceeds demand. Plans for the George Gibsons Marine Resort Hotel project include an extension to the marina property to allow for additional day moorage to help meet demand.

With the growing popularity of kayaking, Klaus Fuerniss Enterprises launched Sunshine Coast Kayaking in 2020. Based in the Gibsons Marina, Sunshine Coast Kayaking offers reasonably-priced kayak rentals and sales. Offering the only fuel dock between Gibsons and Pender Harbour, KFE envisions strong and steady growth for their diversified marina operations and rental services, including tours and lessons.
