Tim Hortons support for the Sunshine Coast Nutcracker production tops sales records in 2022
The annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign in cooperation with the Sunshine Coast Youth Dance Association this month broke all previous sales records in support of community dance.
With cookie sales totalling $20,538, all proceeds from the local Tim Hortons franchise will support the Association’s production of the Sunshine Coast Nutcracker. The production took place from Dec. 14 to 19 at the Gibsons Heritage Playhouse, with more than 80 dancers from Earl’s Cove to Langdale onstage.
During a cheque presentation ceremony in Gibsons, Tim Hortons owner Klaus Fuerniss said, “We were extremely proud to work with the Youth Dance Association this year in support of local arts and culture.” The Nutcracker performances will once again pair professional dancers with many talented emerging ballet stars from the Gibsons Dance Centre and the Coast Academy of Dance in Sechelt.
The Sunshine Coast Youth Dance Association supports educational dance excursions abroad for dance students, local residency programs, and major projects like Nutcracker to provide performance and mentoring opportunities for local students of dance.
